Leopard resting in tree after a nice lunch..
It has taken its kill to top of the tree.. you can see its leg hanging around…
Was lucky to spot these 3 Flemingo’s near Mysore during Jan 2017!!..
Dudes: Me, Amar and SP
Bikes: Bullet Std 350, Yamaha FZ
Route: Mysore-KR Nagara-Holenarasipur-Towards Hassan-Take Left in Mosale Hosahalli –Shettihalli Church
I made last minute ride plan to Shetiihalli Church on Friday and Amar and SP joined me with Joy..
Saturday we plan to ride early but SP has to drop his family to railway station, so we waited for him till 11:30 AM.. Finally we all left Mysore around 12 PM.
The ride was superb..Nice weather and it was drizzling some places..
First we stopped at Holenasipur for food and Booz. we packed Biryani rice, Egg and Chiken Kabab from local shop, and got KF Strong Beer..
We inquired about route to Shettihalli, and people gave correct information about going through Gorur.. but our SP did not listen to them.. He belived in his mobile map… and we took local country road.. it was nice ride in gong through villages and all..
Since it was raining we couldn’t refer mobile map frequently and we took one wrong turn!!!
There was no road at all… it was fully covered with Mud… I was reluctant to go in that road but SP forced me to take that road only… but I have to say getting lost was best part of trip..
We had nice off-road experience in that scenic road..
At some point we stopped to verify our map.. and came to know we are in wrong place where there is no road in Map..!!
SP was feeling hungry.. and he wanted to have food there only.. but we convinced him to go Church….
Finally we reached our destination… it was superb view from long distance only..
As soon as we reached SP started opening parcel and eating… since we had to Booz.. we went to some place near water and had…
Some couple asked for my Bike and Helmet and parked it in front of church gate and they had endless photo session.. Lucky Bike…!!
I dont have pic of these babes on my bike.. but captured this candid photo…!
After our food, we also had nice photo session with bikes.. and had nice time…
During photo session I lost my Oakley sun glasses and luckily Amar found it between some grass..
Finally we left that place and this time took road which people said not mobile says!!
We reached Gorur and took deviation to the Gorur Dam which is built on ‘Hemavathi river
This dam was build before I was born, on 1979, its around 58 Mts height (20 Mts Higher than KRS!!)
After that we stopped to have Jack fruit and then for Tea..
We reached Mysore around 7:30 PM..
It was long time since I went Bike trip.. this time I got chance and without thinking twice I went to Bandipur Forest
The route I took is Mysore–>Nanjangud–>Gundelpet–>Bandipur (Around 80KM’s from Mysore)
On the way I had nice lunch in Guldelpet, Madina hotel which is famous for Teetar and biryani..It was so delicious… I am waiting for my next visit to this hotel
I reached Bandipur around 2:30PM and I was told that safari tickets will be issued 30 mins before safari starts, Safari timings is 3:30 PM to 5: 00PM, 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM
I took 3:30 PM safari and got into safari van, My 6th sense was telling that I will defiantly spot some good animals in this trip.
Driver stopped in some lake and was telling that yesterday he was Tiger in this lake.. we waited there for some time..Then I saw paradise fly catcher !!!, I pulled my camera and clicked nice snaps
its is one of my dream bird to capture….
Then we saw Languors an Indian peacocks
Then we spotted leopard!!!… actually driver went very close to leopard, which was sitting and relaxing.. then we came back giving it some safe distance
It started yawing and after some time it got up due to some buggers making some noises in safari jeep. It walked straight towards jeep and went inside forest. it was sitting in the side of road and was watching us!!.. the camouflage is so good that we cant see anything once it went inside forest.
I was lucky to spot leopard!!!… it was my first sighting in forest… I always used to see pug marks…:-)
Then we went towards one more lake, then we saw some 4 Elephants with Cub.. superb it was
It was indeed a pleasant trip to Bandipur in Bike…Enjoyed a lot…
DATE: 24th May 2015, Sunday
Dudes: Me, Amar, Vivian, Harish
I was planning for the short trips around Mysore after buying my new Bull (Bullet Std 350 CC), and we decided to go Mallalli falls which is in Coorg. This is Kumaradhara River which will later go to Kukke Subrahmanya!! This is around 130KM’s from Mysore,
I have invited one more college of mine Vivian, he had bought new TB, Harish joined him, and Amar was glad to join me.So total 4 peoples are all geared for the trip The route which we took was: Mysore–>Hunsur–>Kushal Nagar–>Somwarpet–>Mallalli Falls Route Map: https://www.google.co.in/maps/dir/Mysuru,+Karnataka/Mallalli+Water+Falls,+Kumaralli,+Karnatakafirstname.lastname@example.org,76.1010498,10z/data=!4m14!4m13!1m5!1m1!1s0x3baf70381d572ef9:0x2b89ece8c0f8396d!2m2!1d76.6393805!2d12.2958104!1m5!1m1!1s0x3ba51de48fdc729b:0x649b67a3f4bccf84!2m2!1d75.723867!2d12.681436!3e0 We all met in common place and left Mysore around 10:30, it was pretty hot, I had to remove my leather jacket !! We took small T breaks on the way to falls.. Road is very good till the last 3 KM’s to the falls
We reached last tarred road, it was 3 KM’s before falls, There is one Homestay right @ the point, (sorry I forgot the name). We have to order food in advance, so we ordered food and they told they need min 30 min or so… Then we took our bulls to the falls starting point… The last 3 KM’s stretch is very bad, Ups and downs and road is full of lose stones.. it is difficult to go in doubles.. our bulls got skid in couple of places Finally we reached Falls Starting point.. We were little disappointed to see less water in the falls, We decided to go till down and get into water On the way there was one lovely spot, there is Rock at the edge of the cliff, If you can able to climb on that you can see entire cliff We went to that place to took some nice snaps.. Vivian had little height phobia so he was struggling
Only till some distance there is cement steps, after that it is rough terrain till the water falls but it is very scenic We reached the falls and water was very pure and cold, we enjoyed for some time..
There will be one guy guiding all tourists, It is very dangerous even if you know swimming.. I suggest not to go deep in water and careful while walking on stones as it will be very slippery After that we came back to home stay which is 3 KM’s from that falls, we had nice lunch and Coorg style Pork also.. We left around 5:30 PM and reached home around 8:30 PM…
Best time to visit: June end or July (During monsoon)
More information on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mallalli_Falls
Edit on 20th July 2017:
I had chance to visit this wonderful falls once again during monsoon and falls was flowing full, green everywhere.. awesome weather..
They have laid nice cement road till the falls view point.. earlier it was horrible..
Entry fee is 100/- per car..for bike its 30 I guess not sure..
3 KMS before falls there are 2 hotels where you will get some food and tea/coffee..
again at the view point, there is small hotel where you can get Omlet/Maggie 🙂
I had visited this falls once during summar and during rainy season.. both time its nice…
during summer you can go till water point and play with water.. during rainy season its very dangerous to get into water.. not advisable ..
couples be careful as its lonely place..you can see some crowed only during weekend not on weekdays..
Kids have to be careful in the steps and view point.. there will be leaches also during rainy season..
I am attaching photos of the hotels there, you can call them and order food…
